Cottonwood

60" in diameter, taller than our three story house, somewhere in the 80-100 year old range.
Sadly, disease and several lighting strikes brought us to the decision to cut it down today. It was a very cool old tree.

It's sad to see a tree go. We still refer to the year we lost the willow as "the willow storm" & everyone in the neighborhood knows what we are talking about--well, at least all the oldtimers. Sure don't miss the mess, tho!! and new trees grow faster once they are planted in the ground--after year 3, they grow 12" per year. Hope to cya soon.
